(iii) The training requirement provided in subparagraph (i) of this
paragraph may not become effective until a program of training in acupuncture for
supervising, licensed physicians, approved by the Board and accredited for Category I
continuing medical education, exists in this State.]
(f) (E) [An acupuncturist] A PHYSICIAN WHO PERFORMS ACUPUNCTURE
may advertise only as permitted by the rules and regulations of the Board.
(g) (F) With the advice of the Acupuncture Advisory Council, the THE Board
may adopt rules and regulations to carry out the provisions of this section.
(h) There is an Acupuncture Advisory Council.
(i) (1) The Council consists of 8 members appointed by the Governor.
(2) Of the 8 members of the Council:
(i) [2] 5 shall be licensed physicians;
(ii) [3 shall be acupuncturists who are not licensed physicians;
(iii)] 2 shall be consumers; and
[(iv)](III) 1 shall be a Board member.
(3) Except for the Board member, the licensed physician members of the
Council shall:
(i) Have engaged regularly in ACUPUNCTURE OR the supervision of
acupuncture for at least 2 years before appointment; and
(ii) Practice medicine or reside in this State at the time of
appointment.
(4) [The acupuncturist members of the Council shall:
(i) Be registered to perform acupuncture;
(ii) Have engaged regularly in the practice of acupuncture for at least
6 years before appointment; and
(iii) Perform acupuncture or reside in this State at the time of
appointment.
(5)] The consumer member:
(i) Shall be a member of the general public;
(ii) May not be or ever have been an acupuncturist, or any other health
professional, or in training to be an acupuncturist or any other health professional; and
(iii) May not have a household member who is an acupuncturist, or
health professional, or in training to be an acupuncturist or health professional.
