(B) A PERSON MAY NOT SERVE AS AN AUTHORIZING AGENT WHEN A
DECEDENT HAS LEFT INSTRUCTIONS IN A DOCUMENT THAT THE DECEDENT DOES
NOT WISH TO BE CREMATED,

5-507.

(a)     A person who violates any provision of [§§ 5-502] § 5-502 AND §§ 5-503
through 5-505 of this subtitle is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a
fine not exceeding $1,000.

(b)     A person who violates any provision of § 5-506(b) of this subtitle is guilty of a
misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $200 or imprisonment
not exceeding 6 months.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.

AN ACT concerning

Trade Regulation - False Advertising

FOR the purpose of altering the definition of "advertise falsely" in provisions of the
Commercial Law Article relating to false advertising; and expanding a class of
prohibited advertising practices when conducting certain businesses.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

11-701.

(a)     In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.

(b)     (1) "Advertise falsely" means to use any advertisement, including a label,
which is misleading in a material respect.
