Section 4C

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1988 Replacement Volume and 1993 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 70B - Office on Aging

4C.

(a)     In addition to any other powers granted and duties imposed by this subtitle,
the Interagency Committee on Aging Services has the powers and duties set forth in this
section.

(b)     The Committee shall:

(1)     Meet at least quarterly during each year;

(2)     Develop and annually update a plan for providing coordinated health
services, social services, transportation, housing, and employment services to elderly
persons in this State consistent with the priorities established by the Office on Aging;

(3)     Establish appropriate interagency agreements and promulgate necessary
rules and regulations to:

(i) Implement and coordinate aging services consistent with the
Interagency Committee plan;

(ii) Maximize the sharing of agency resources for services to the
elderly;

(iii) Consolidate planning and evaluation efforts at the State and local
level; and

(iv) Coordinate and expedite the delivery of services to the elderly by
providing technical assistance to local agencies.

(4)     Assist county agencies to establish local interagency committees
composed of the directors of the local health department, department of social services,
area agency on aging, and officials from housing, transportation, MENTAL HEALTH,
employment, and economic development agencies. These committees shall coordinate
and expedite the delivery of services to the elderly at the local level.

(5)     Annually on or before a date set by the Governor, develop and present
to the Governor and the General Assembly a consolidated operating budget for aging
services that:

(i) Sets forth the relevant portions of the operating budget of any
agency responsible for aging services; and
