Ch. 247                                    1994 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(2)     The Sheriff and his deputies may wear uniforms when performing their
official duties, and the automobiles used by the Sheriff's office shall be equipped with a
two-way radio.

(3)     The County Commissioners may pay for the uniforms, radios,
automobiles, and operating expenses of the automobiles of the Sheriff's office.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to Article III,
Section 35 of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may not be construed to extend or
apply to the salary or compensation of the Sheriff of Somerset County in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or
compensation of the Sheriff of Somerset County shall take effect at the beginning of the
next following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.

AN ACT concerning

Somerset County Treasurer's Salary

FOR the purpose of increasing the salary of the Treasurer of Somerset County to a
certain amount; and providing that this Act does not apply to the salary or
compensation of the incumbent Treasurer.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article 25 - County Commissioners
Section 51(r)

Annotated Code of Maryland
(1990 Replacement Volume and 1993 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 25 - County Commissioners

51.

(r) The annual salary of the County Treasurer of Somerset County is [$25,000]
$35,000.
