AN ACT concerning

Importation and Solicitation Crimes - Importation of Minors - Drug Offenses

FOR the purpose of prohibiting a person from transporting, carrying, or otherwise
bringing a minor into the State or soliciting a minor to enter the State for the
purpose of committing using the minor in the commission of certain controlled
dangerous substance offenses imposing certain penalties; and generally relating to
controlled dangerous substance offenses and minors.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:         

Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments

286E.

(A)    A PERSON MAY NOT TRANSPORT, CARRY, OR OTHERWISE BRING A
MINOR FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY OR STATE OR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA INTO
THE STATE OR SOLICIT A MINOR TO ENTER THE STATE FROM ANOTHER COUNTRY

OR STATE OR THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMMITTING AN
OFFENSE WHICH IS A FELONY UNDER ANY OF THE PROVISIONS OF §§ 276 THROUGH
301 OF THIS ARTICLE INTO THE STATE FOR THE PURPOSE OF USING THE MINOR IN THE
COMMISSION OF A VIOLATION OF § 286, § 286A, § 286B, § 286C, OR § 286D OF THIS
SUBHEADING.

(B)      A PERSON WHO VIOLATES THIS SECTION IS GUILTY OF A FELONY AND ON
CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO A FINE OF UP TO $20,000 OR IMPRISONMENT FOR UP TO
20 YEARS OR BOTH.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.
