Among other things, the juror selection plan referred to in § 8-201 shall:

(6) PROVIDE THAT IN HOWARD COUNTY ONLY, A PROSPECTIVE JUROR
IS REQUIRED TO SERVE FOR ONLY ONE DAY OR, IF SELECTED AS A JUROR, FOR ONE
TRIAL, WITHIN A 2 YEAR PERIOD.

(b) A juror shall receive the per diem amount stated in this section for each day
the juror attends court as a juror in:

(14) Howard County — $10 expense money plus an additional $10 expense
money if the service of the juror extends past 1:00 p.m.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the implementation of
this Act is contingent on the [establishment of] CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR
HOWARD COUNTY ESTABLISHING a 1 day - 1 trial jury system [by the Clerk of the
Circuit Court for Howard County] OR A SYSTEM UNDER WHICH A PROSPECTIVE
JUROR IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE ON CALL FOR MORE THAN 2 CONSECUTIVE WEEKS,
and if the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Howard County does not establish fa 1 day - 1
trial jury] EITHER system, this Act may not be implemented.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.
