(c) "Earnable compensation" means the normal monthly compensation that is
paid to any employee for working the normal time in the employee's position and that is
equal to one-twelfth of the employee's annual salary rate, including the monthly pickup
contribution, if any, provided for in [§ 1-302(f)(2)] § 1-302(E) of this article.

10-206.

(a) On or after July 1, 1989, if a municipal corporation elects to participate in this
pension system in accordance with [§ 10-224] § 10- 229 of this subtitle, any person who
becomes a municipal corporation law enforcement officer or fire fighter of the municipal
corporation after the municipal corporation begins to participate in this system shall
become a member of this pension system as a condition of employment.
