AN ACT concerning

State Board for Professional Engineers - Education and Experience Requirements for

Licensing

FOR the purpose of altering the circumstances under which the State Board for
Professional Engineers, in determining whether an applicant for a professional
engineer's license has accumulated the required amount of engineering experience,
may give experience credit for the teaching of engineering; and generally relating to
the licensing of professional engineers by the State Board for Professional
Engineers.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Business Occupations and Professions

14-305.

(e) If an applicant has taught [engineering as an associate professor, or in a
higher position, in a college or university] ADVANCED UNDERGRADUATE OR
GRADUATE COURSES IN THE PRACTICE OF ENGINEERING AND OR HAS DIRECTED
ENGINEERING RESEARCH AND PROJECTS IN THE APPLICANT'S FIELD IN A COLLEGE
OR UNIVERSITY OFFERING AN ENGINEERING CURRICULUM THAT IS APPROVED BY
THE BOARD, the Board may count the teaching experience as work experience for
purposes of the experience requirements under any subsection of this section.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1993.
