S.B. 171

VETOES

This bill would require that District Court facilities in Baltimore County be located in the
Dundalk area and the Owings Mills area until June 30, 1997.

House Bill 648, which was passed by the General Assembly and signed by me on May 11,
1993, accomplishes the same purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate
Bill 171.

AN ACT concerning

Baltimore County - District Court Facilities

FOR the purpose of altering redesignating the areas in which facilities of the District
Court shall be located in Baltimore County; providing that certain facilities of the
District Court in Baltimore County shall be located in the Dundalk and Owings Mills
areas until a certain date;
declaring the intent of the General Assembly; and
generally relating to the facilities of the District Court in Baltimore County.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
Section 1-603(d)
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1989 Replacement Volume and 1992 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:                              

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

1-603.

(d) To assure that the services of the District Court are available in all areas of
district 8, SUBJECT TO THE TIME LIMITS CONTAINED IN THIS SUBSECTION, there shall be
a court facility physically located in each of the following areas of that district, and at least
one judge shall sit regularly in each location:

[(1)  Area 1—Election districts 1 and 13

(2)     Area 2—Election districts 2 and 3

(3)     Area 3—Election districts 8 and 9

(4)     Area 4—Election districts 14 and 15

(5)     Area 5—Election district 12]
