WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                         Ch. 596

County Board of Education to complete any remaining period of a certain term on
and after graduation from high school
shall continue to serve after graduation and
until a successor is appointed and qualifies; specifying a certain procedure for filling
vacancies in the position of student member on the Board; and generally relating to
the student member on the Anne Arundel County Board of Education.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 3-110

Annotated Code of Maryland
(1992 Replacement Volume)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

3-110.

(a)     The Anne Arundel County Board consists of 8 members who shall be
appointed as follows:

(1)     3 from the county at large;

(2)     1 each from Legislative Districts 31, 32, and 33;

(3)     1 from Legislative District 29A (Anne Arundel County Election District
7; Precincts 1 and 2) or District 30; and

(4)     1 student member.

(b)     (1) The student member shall:

[(1)](I) Be a regularly enrolled senior year student of good character
and in good standing in an Anne Arundel County public high school;

[(2)] (II) Be selected in [his] THE STUDENT'S junior year by a method
selected by the Chesapeake Regional Association of Student Councils of Anne Arundel
County; [and]

[(3)](III) 1. Serve [for] A TERM OF 1 year [.]; AND

2. ON AND AFTER GRADUATION FROM HIGH SCHOOL,
COMPLETE ANY REMAINING PERIOD OF THE TERM
CONTINUE TO SERVE AFTER
GRADUATION AND UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(2) IF A VACANCY IN THE POSITION OF THE STUDENT MEMBER OCCURS
DURING THE TERM OF THE STUDENT MEMBER, THE CHESAPEAKE REGIONAL
ASSOCIATION OF STUDENT COUNCILS SHALL:

(I) CONDUCT A SPECIAL ELECTION AT ITS NEXT GENERAL
MEETING; AND
