(B) IF THE EMPLOYEE DOES NOT HAVE A RECORD OF SICK LEAVE ABUSE,
THE REQUIREMENT THAT THE EMPLOYEE PRESENT AN ORIGINAL CERTIFICATE OF
ILLNESS OR DISABILITY MAY BE WAIVED BY THE APPOINTING AUTHORITY FOR AN
ILLNESS OR DISABILITY OF UP TO 5 DAYS WITHIN A 30 DAY PERIOD.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1993.

(House Bill 178)
AN ACT concerning
Creation of a State Debt - Atlantic General Hospital
FOR the purpose of authorizing the creation of a State Debt not to exceed $500,000, the
proceeds to be used as a grant to the Board of Directors of the Worcester Memorial
Hospital Corporation for the planning, design, construction, and equipping of the
Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin in Worcester County, subject to the
requirement that the Board of Directors of the Worcester Memorial Hospital
Corporation and the Board of County Commissioners of Worcester County, as
equal participants, provide and expend a matching fund and present, by a certain
date, evidence that a matching fund will be provided; and providing generally for
the issuance and sale of bonds evidencing the loan.
Preamble
WHEREAS, It has been recognized for many years that because of the growing
population of the Eastern Shore of Maryland there is an ever increasing need for a
full-service hospital in this region of the State; and
WHEREAS, Every year there are many more Maryland residents traveling to the
Eastern Shore to vacation, the result of which is a greater need for hospital services in
this area; and
WHEREAS, It is agreed by the Department of General Services, the Board of
Public Works, and the Department of Budget and Fiscal Planning that $15,000,000 in
funds is needed for the erection of a full-service hospital on the Eastern Shore; and
