1993 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(VI) ANY FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE OF THE MARYLAND AVIATION
ADMINISTRATION FIRE RESCUE SERVICE WHO BECAME AN EMPLOYEE ON OR
AFTER OCTOBER 1, 1993, AND WHO PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT WITH THE MARYLAND
AVIATION ADMINISTRATION FIRE RESCUE SERVICE WAS A MEMBER OF THE
EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND AS ESTABLISHED
IN § 2-102 OF THIS SUBTITLE.

4-101.

(a) In this title the following words have the meanings indicated.

(e) (1) "Employee" means any regular classified or unclassified officer or
employee of the State for whom compensation is provided by State appropriation, or
whose compensation is paid from State funds.

(2)     "Employee" includes:

(i) Any appointed or elected official of this State, including:

1.       Clerk of the circuit court;

2.       Register of wills;

3.       State's Attorney; and

4.       Sheriff;

(ii) An employee of the Office of the Sheriff of Baltimore City;

(iii) An additional employee or agent of the State Racing Commission
authorized by § 11-207 of the Business Regulation Article, subject to approval by the
Board of Trustees;

(iv) Permanent employee of the boards of supervisors of elections as
provided in § 4-201(f) of this title; [and]

(v) Master in chancery or master in juvenile causes who is appointed
after June 30, 1989, in any county by the circuit court for that county and who serves on
a full-time basis as a master; AND

(VI) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN § 2-101(E)(2)(VI) OF THIS ARTICLE, A
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE OF THE STATE MARYLAND AVIATION ADMINISTRATION FIRE
RESCUE SERVICE WHO BECOMES AN EMPLOYEE ON OR AFTER OCTOBER 1, 1993.

(3)     "Employee" does not include:

(i) Any person who is a member of or entitled to be a member of any
other system of the several systems;

(ii) Any class ,of employee whose compensation is provided or paid
only partly by the State;

(iii) Any employee who serves on a temporary basis;
