1993; LAWS OF MARYLAND

(1)     A record of the most recent inspection, including any maintenance or
repair work performed; or

(2) A written certification that the vehicle is maintained under a preventive
maintenance plan approved by the Administration and the Maryland State Police.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That:

(a)     There is a Dump Truck Technical Task Force.

(b)     The Task Force shall be composed of:

i

         (1) Four Six representatives of industries affected by this Act, including a
representative from each of the following:

   (i)     The Maryland Motor Truck Association;

(ii)    The Maryland Ready-Mix Concrete Association;

            (iii)   The Solid Waste Association; and

(iv)    The Maryland Minority Contractors Association; and

                    (v)   The Maryland Independent Truckers Association; and

(vi)   The Maryland Aggregates Association; and

(2) Four Six representatives of State government appointed by the Secretary
of Transportation.                         

(c)     The members of the Task Force shall be appointed and assume their duties on
or before June 15, 1993.                     

(d) The Task Force shall develop alternative vehicle design configurations for
dump-service vehicles including, recommendations on axle configurations, maximum
design axle weights, and lift axle requirements.

(e)     The Task Force shall be chaired jointly by a representative from the affected
industries and a representative from the State.

(f)      Any recommendation of the Task Force shall require the approval of at least
six nine of the members.                                                                                          

(g)     The State Highway Administration shall provide necessary staff support to the
Task Force.           

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That subject to the provisions
of Section 4 of this Act, before September 15, 1993, the Task Force established under
Section 2 of this Act shall complete its work on developing alternative vehicle design
configurations and shall submit to the Department of Transportation a report that
includes recommendations and suggested regulations to implement the Task Force's
recommendations.
