making this Act an emergency measure; and generally relating to the special taxing
area known as Chevy Chase View.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That:
(1) Subject to the provision of paragraph (2) of this Act, the special taxing area or
district created by Chapter 541 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1924 and known
as Chevy Chase View, Montgomery County, Maryland shall be abolished in its entirety,
and Chapter 541 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1924, as amended, shall be
repealed, when the special taxing area or district is incorporated, in its entirety, or in
substantial part, as a municipal corporation or as part of a municipal corporation.
(2) Any contract, obligation, duty, liability, or penalty outstanding on behalf of the
special taxing area or district at the time of the incorporation and any right, privilege,
asset, property or interest in property, claim, demand, or cause of action of the special
taxing area or district at the time of the incorporation shall be fully assumed by the
municipal corporation at the time of the incorporation.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
on the date that the special taxing area or district created by Chapter 541 of the Acts of
the General Assembly of 1924 and known as Chevy Chase View is incorporated, in its
entirety, or in substantial part, as a municipal corporation or as part of a municipal
corporation.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act is an emergency
measure, is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public health and safety, has
boon passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three fifths of all the members elected to
each of the two Houses of the General Assembly, and shall take effect from the date it is
enacted.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1993.
