Ch. 3 LAWS OF MARYLAND
(2) AN APPLICATION SHALL BE MADE UNDER OATH.
(C) ADDITIONAL EVIDENCE.
IF THE BOARD FINDS THAT AN APPLICATION FORM AND THE
ACCOMPANYING DOCUMENTATION DO NOT DEMONSTRATE THAT THE APPLICANT
MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS FOR A LICENSE UNDER THIS SUBTITLE, THE
BOARD MAY REQUIRE THE APPLICANT TO SUBMIT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
OR DOCUMENTATION.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from the fourth sentence of
former Art. 75 1/2, § 13(a), the second and third
sentences and, as it related to professional
engineers, the first sentence of § 12(a) and the third
sentence of (b)(1), the second sentence of (2), and
the second sentence of (3), § 1(b), as that subsection
related to evidence of qualifications, and the first
sentence of § 9, as that sentence related to payment
of fees to the Board.
In subsection (a)(3) of this section, the reference to
an "application" fee is substituted for the former
reference to an "examination fee" because the Board
charges a single fee, which is paid on application for
both the application and examination process.
Therefore, former Art. 75 1/2, § 13(c), which provided
that, if the Board does not issue a license to an
applicant, the initial fee would be retained "as an
application fee", is deleted as unnecessary.
In subsection (b)(1)(iv) of this section, the former
reference to a "certificate issued by the National
Council of Engineering Examiners or its successor" is
deleted as unnecessary since it was merely an example
of other "relevant" information that could be required
in an application for a license and did not enhance
the general statement that an application form may
require additional relevant information.
Defined terms: "Board" § 14-101
"License" § 14-101
"Professional engineer" § 14-101
14-307. EXAMINATIONS -- IN GENERAL.
(A) RIGHT TO EXAMINATION.
(1) AN APPLICANT WHO OTHERWISE QUALIFIES FOR A
LICENSE IS ENTITLED TO BE EXAMINED AS PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION.
(2) SUBJECT TO § 14-310 OF THIS SUBTITLE, AN
INDIVIDUAL MAY TAKE THE EXAMINATION IN THE FUNDAMENTALS OF
ENGINEERING BEFORE MEETING OTHER QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LICENSE.
