In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 825.

This bill alters the definition of "contract term" as it applies
to the Small Business Surety Bond Guaranty Program to include the
maintenance or warranty period required by the contract and the
period during which the surety may be liable for latent defects.

Senate Bill 530, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 25, 1989, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 825.

FOR the purpose of altering a certain definition in the Small
Business Surety Bond Guaranty Fund Program to make a
technical certain change and to include in a contract term
the time period during which a surety may be liable for
latent defects; and generally relating to the Small Business
Surety Bond Guaranty Fund Program.
