Section 3-501 through 3-504 3-503 3-504 to be under the new

subtitle "Subtitle 5. Partnership for Workforce

Quality"
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1988 Replacement Volume)

Preamble

WHEREAS, Rapid technological change and increasing
international competition demand that workforce skills be
continually updated; and

WHEREAS, The lack of a productive and well trained workforce
diminishes the competitiveness of Maryland business and can
result in the loss of employment for Maryland workers; and

WHEREAS, Upgraded skills can provide workers and potential
workers with increased productivity and earnings, job stability,
and long-term career advancement; and

WHEREAS, The long-term development and maintenance of a
skilled and productive workforce will require a partnership of
business, labor, government, and education at the State and local
level; now, therefore,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 83A - Department of Economic and Employment Development

SUBTITLE 5. PARTNERSHIP FOR WORKFORCE QUALITY

3-501.

(A)  THERE IS A PARTNERSHIP FOR WORKFORCE QUALITY PROGRAM
WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC AND EMPLOYMENT DEVELOPMENT.

(B)  THE PARTNERSHIP FOR WORKFORCE QUALITY PROGRAM SHALL
PROVIDE TRAINING SERVICES:

(1) TO IMPROVE THE COMPETITIVENESS AND PRODUCTIVITY
OF MARYLAND'S WORKFORCE AND BUSINESS COMMUNITY;
