(2) Supply printed copies of these materials to any
teacher or interested citizen.

(B) A COUNTY BOARD MAY GIVE ACADEMIC CREDIT FOR THE STUDY
OF AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 57.

This bill abolishes the position of assistant commissioner of
labor and industry for railroad safety and health and creates the
position of chief inspector for railroad safety and health
subject to the State Merit System Law.

House Bill 58, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 19, 1989, contains language identical to this
bill, among its other provisions. Therefore, it is not necessary
for me to sign House Bill 57.
