VETOES
or volunteer rescue squadman whose income is derived from any
source other than salary or wages shall be entitled to the
maximum compensation for injury or, in the case of death, his
dependents shall be entitled to the maximum compensation for
death; provided, however, that where any volunteer fireman or
volunteer rescue squadman is not actively engaged in a business
enterprise at the time of his injury or death, compensation for
injury or death shall be paid upon the basis of the weekly income
last received by him when so engaged; and further provided, that
if such fireman or rescue squadman has never been engaged in a
business enterprise, compensation for injury or death shall be
the minimum compensation authorized by this article.
(c) (3) (i) In Howard [County] AND CECIL COUNTIES, this
section shall apply only to actively participating volunteer fire
fighters and volunteer members of rescue squads.
(ii) Howard [County] AND CECIL COUNTIES
shall secure workmen's compensation AS to volunteer fire fighters
and volunteer rescue squad members through any method allowed
under § 16 of this article.
(6) (I) CECIL COUNTY SHALL SECURE WORKERS'
COMPENSATION TO VOLUNTEER FIRE FIGHTERS AND VOLUNTEER RESCUE
SQUAD MEMBERS THROUGH ANY METHOD ALLOWED UNDER § 16 OF THIS
ARTICLE.
(II) FOR PURPOSES OF WORKERS' COMPENSATION
COVERAGE UNDER THIS PARAGRAPH, THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF CECIL
COUNTY MAY ESTABLISH GUIDELINES FOR ELIGIBLE MEMBERS OF ANY
VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY AND ANY VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUAD WHO ARE
ELIGIBLE FOR WORKERS' COMPENSATION. THE GUIDELINES MAY NOT PLACE
A CEILING ON THE NUMBER OF VOLUNTEERS THAT ANY VOLUNTEER FIRE
COMPANY AND ANY VOLUNTEER RESCUE SQUAD IN CECIL COUNTY MAY HAVE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.
