WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor

Ch. 3

THE RULES UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL INCLUDE PROVISIONS FOR:

(1)  A UNIFORM SYSTEM OF BAR EXAMINATION IN THE STATE;

(2)  THE REGISTRATION OF EACH APPLICANT FOR ADMISSION
TO THE BAR;

(3)  THE QUALIFICATIONS OF EACH APPLICANT FOR
ADMISSION TO THE BAR;

(4)  THE EXAMINATION OF THE CHARACTER OF EACH
APPLICANT FOR ADMISSION TO THE BAR; AND

(5)  THE FEES TO BE PAID BY AN APPLICANT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a) and (b)(1), (2), (4), and

Subsection (b)(3) of this section is new language
added to state expressly that which only was implied
in the former law -- i.e., the Court of Appeals may
adopt rules to govern the qualifications of applicants
for admission to the Bar.

In subsection (b) of this section, the word "include"
is substituted for the former reference to "other
rules as may be necessary or convenient to carry out"
former Art. 10, § 3, for brevity. See Art. 1, § 30 of
the Code, which provides that "includes" is "by way of
illustration and not by way of limitation."

As to the rules about admission, see the Rules
Governing Admission to the Bar of Maryland.
