(V) "TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS" MEANS ASSISTANCE IN LOAN
PACKAGING, CONTRACTOR AND BID SELECTION, ZONING, MARKETING,
ENGINEERING, AND RELATED SERVICES.

2-306.

(a) The Accessory, Shared and Sheltered Housing Program is
created within the Maryland Housing Rehabilitation Program.

(b) (1) The Department shall operate the Program and make
loans for rehabilitation costs for accessory, shared and
sheltered housing from the fund under the provisions of this
subtitle.

(2) THE DEPARTMENT SHALL MAKE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

GRANTS TO NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS OR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN

CONNECTION WITH A LOAN MADE UNDER THIS SECTION.

(3) THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS
MAY NOT EXCEED 10 PERCENT OF BUDGETED PROGRAM FUNDS DURING ANY
FISCAL YEAR.

(2) (I) THE DEPARTMENT SHALL, UNDER A DEMONSTRATION

PROJECT, MAKE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS TO NONPROFIT
ORGANIZATIONS OR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS IN CONNECTION WITH A LOAN MADE
UNDER THIS SECTION IF:

1. THERE IS CENSUS DATA OR OTHER

INFORMATION THAT DEMONSTRATES A NEED FOR THE PROGRAM WITHIN THE
REGION SERVED BY THE LOCAL GOVERNMENT OR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION;
AND------------------------------------ --------------------------------------

2. AN APPLICANT TO THE PROGRAM CAN
BENEFIT BY RECEIVING TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FROM A NONPROFIT
ORGANIZATION OR LOCAL GOVERNMENT.

(II) THE TOTAL AMOUNT OF TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
GRANTS MAY NOT EXCEED 10 PERCENT OF THE BUDGETED PROGRAM FUNDS
DURING ANY FISCAL YEAR.

(III) THE DEMONSTRATION PROJECT SHALL TERMINATE
ON JUNE 30, 1991.

(IV) THE DEPARTMENT SHALL REPORT TO THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY, IN ACCORDANCE WITH
§ 2-1312 OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT
ARTICLE, ON OR BEFORE NOVEMBER 30, 1989, ON ITS PLANS TO PROVIDE
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE GRANTS OR OTHER OPERATING SUPPORT TO
NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS THAT FACILITATE THE USE OF THE
DEPARTMENT'S PROGRAMS BY RESIDENTS OF LOCAL JURISDICTIONS.
