requisite state of mind. While the former word
"willfully" could be read to apply to the making of
the statement itself, regardless of knowledge of its
falsity, the word "knowingly" more clearly conveys the
intended requirement that one be aware of the falsity
of the statement.

The defined term "license" is substituted for the
former limited reference to a "certificate of
registration" since there seemed to be no intent to
exclude an individual who applies for what formerly
was called a "certificate of endorsement". See also
the General Revisor's Note to this article.

8-504. FRAUDULENTLY OR DECEPTIVELY OBTAINING LICENSE.

A PERSON MAY NOT FRAUDULENTLY OR DECEPTIVELY OBTAIN OR
ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN A LICENSE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, §
526(a), as that subsection related to a violation of §
521(2).

The reference to "attempt" is added to conform to §
8-312(1) of this title. See the revisor's note to
that section.

8-505. PURCHASE OF LICENSE.

A PERSON MAY NOT BUY OR OTHERWISE OBTAIN BY GIVING
CONSIDERATION A LICENSE CERTIFICATE WITH THE INTENTION OF USING
IT TO INDICATE THAT THE PERSON IS AUTHORIZED TO PROVIDE HEARING
AID SERVICES.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, §
522(2).

The words "buy or otherwise obtain by giving
consideration" are substituted for the former words
"[p]urchase or procure by barter", for clarity.

The defined term "license" is substituted for the
former limited reference to a "certificate of
registration" since there seemed to be no intent to
exclude an individual who obtains what formerly was
