Ch. 612

LAWS OF MARYLAND

(F) SUBJECT TO ARTICLE 41, § 8-102(F) OF THE CODE, IN THE
CASE OF AN APPLICANT WHO DEMONSTRATES DYSLEXIA OR OTHER READING
IMPAIRMENT TO THE BOARD:

(1)  THE BOARD MAY GRANT 1 OR BOTH OF THE FOLLOWING:

(I)  ADDITIONAL TIME TO COMPLETE ALL OR PART OF
THE EXAMINATION; OR

(II)  ORAL EXAMINATION FOR ALL OR PART OF THE
WRITTEN PART OF THE EXAMINATION.

(2)  THE BOARD SHALL APPROVE FOR LICENSING AN
APPLICANT WHO:

(I)  PASSES THE EXAMINATION; AND

(II)  DEMONSTRATES TO THE BOARD THAT THE
APPLICANT'S DYSLEXIA OR OTHER READING IMPAIRMENT, IF ANY, DOES
NOT SIGNIFICANTLY IMPAIR THE APPLICANT'S ABILITY TO FUNCTION AS A
LICENSEE.

(e) (G) If an applicant fails to appear for a scheduled
examination, the Board may require the applicant to pay another
application fee under § 4-304 of this subtitle before
rescheduling an examination for the applicant.

Subtitle 4. Registration of Students AND APPRENTICE BARBERS

4-401.

(A)  An individual shall be registered by the Board before
the individual may enroll or participate as a student in a barber
school in the State.

(B)  AN INDIVIDUAL SHALL BE REGISTERED BY THE BOARD BEFORE
THE INDIVIDUAL MAY SERVE AS AN APPRENTICE IN A BARBERSHOP IN THE
STATE.

4-402.

(A)  An applicant for registration as a student OR AN
APPRENTICE shall:

(1)  submit to the Board an application on the form
that the Board provides; and

(2)  pay to the Board an application fee of $5.

(B)  IN ADDITION TO THE MATERIALS REQUIRED IN SUBSECTION (A)
OF THIS SECTION, AN APPLICANT FOR REGISTRATION AS AN APPRENTICE
BARBER SHALL SUBMIT TO THE BOARD ADEQUATE EVIDENCE OF THE
FOLLOWING:
