Ch. 605                                       LAWS OF MARYLAND

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of
Maryland read as follows:

Article - Education

18-304.

(a)  A general State scholarship may be used:

(1)  At a degree granting institution of higher
education, an eligible institution with a terminal certificate
program that provides transfer credit for an accredited
baccalaureate program, or a hospital diploma school for training
registered nurses if the curriculum is approved by the
Commission; and

(2)  For educational expenses as defined by the
Commission, including:

(i) Tuition and fees; and

(ii) Room and board.

(b)  A general State scholarship may be used at a school in
another state if:

(1)  There is a reciprocal agreement as provided in
Section 18-307 of this subtitle; and

(2)  The school meets requirements of subsection
(a)(1) of this section.

18-305.

(a) Each recipient of a general State scholarship may hold
the scholarship for [4] 5 years if he the recipient:

(1)  Continues to be a resident of this State;

(2)  (I) Continues to be a full-time student at an
eligible institution and takes at least 12 semester hours of
courses each semester; OR

(II) IS A PART-TIME NURSING STUDENT AT AN
ELIGIBLE INSTITUTION, AND TAKES NOT LESS THAN 6 SEMESTER HOURS OF
COURSES EACH SEMESTER;

(3)  In the judgment of the institution, is making
satisfactory progress toward a degree; and

(4)  Maintains the department standards of the
institution.
