LAWS OF MARYLAND
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That:
(1) The University of Maryland School of Nursing Task Force
shall investigate the feasibility of implementing a cooperative
degree program in nursing at the University of Maryland School of
Nursing.
(2) In conducting the study, the Task Force shall consider
the structure of the cooperative degree program in nursing at
Northeastern University in Massachusetts.
(3) The Task Force shall report its findings and make
recommendations to the Maryland Higher Education Commission, the
Legislative Policy Committee, the Economic and Environmental
Affairs Committee of the Senate of Maryland, and the
Constitutional and Administrative Law Committee of the House of
Delegates by September 1, 1989.
(4) If the Task Force recommends the implementation of a
cooperative degree program at the University of Maryland School
of Nursing, the Task Force shall implement its findings for the
1990 incoming class.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1989. It shall remain effective until the
Commission has implemented its findings, and with no further
action required by the General Assembly, this Act shall be
abrogated and of no further force and effect.

AN ACT concerning
Nursing Education - Financial Assistance
and Loan Assistance Repayment Program
FOR the purpose of altering certain eligibility requirements for
general State scholarships to include part-time nursing
students; granting priority participation in the Loan
Assistance Repayment Program to certain nursing students;
establishing a program of stipends for certain nursing
scholarship recipients; altering the number of years that a
recipient may hold a general State scholarship; specifying a
