(7) The State Board Maryland Higher Education

Commission and the State Board of Nursing shall implement its the
findings of the task force for the 1990 incoming class.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1989. It shall remain effective until the
Commission has Maryland Higher Education Commission and the State
Board of Nursing have implemented its the findings of the task
force, and with no further action required by the General
Assembly, this Act shall be abrogated and of no further force and
effect.

AN ACT concerning

Maryland Higher Education Commission - Feasibility of a
Cooperative Nursing Degree Program

FOR the purpose of implementing a cooperative nursing degree
program at certain State educational institutions; and
providing for the effective date of this Act; providing for
the termination of this Act.

Preamble

WHEREAS, A cooperative degree program provides extensive
work experience for nursing students, better preparing the
students for work in the hospital or nursing home setting;

WHEREAS, A cooperative degree program provides nursing
students with the opportunity to earn money for tuition and fees,
easing the financial burden of attending college;

WHEREAS, A cooperative degree program, through its work
experience provisions, provides nursing students with a greater
degree of preparedness, enabling students to find work to fit
their career goals; and

WHEREAS, A cooperative degree program exposes the nursing
student to areas of severe nursing shortage; now, therefore,
