WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                        Ch. 3

(A)  IN GENERAL.

FROM AMONG ITS MEMBERS, THE STATE BOARD ANNUALLY SHALL ELECT
A CHAIRMAN, A VICE CHAIRMAN, AND A SECRETARY.

(B)  ELECTIONS AND TERMS OF OFFICE.

(1)  THE MANNER OF ELECTION OF OFFICERS SHALL BE AS
THE STATE BOARD DETERMINES.

(2)  THE TERMS OF THE OFFICERS ARE FOR 1 YEAR AND
BEGIN ON JULY 1.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Art. 56A,
§ 2-203.

In subsection (a) of this section, the former phrase
"in July" is deleted in light of the requirement, in
subsection (b)(2) of this section, that a term begin
on July 1. It is doubtful that the General Assembly
intended to require the State Board to meet on July 1
of each year or to elect officers almost 1 year in
advance of assuming office.

No other changes are made.

Defined term: "State Board" § 6-101

6-204. QUORUM; MEETINGS; COMPENSATION; STAFF.

(A)  QUORUM.

A MAJORITY OF THE AUTHORIZED MEMBERSHIP OF THE STATE BOARD
IS A QUORUM.

(B)  MEETINGS.

(1)  THE STATE BOARD SHALL MEET AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH,
AT THE TIMES THAT IT DETERMINES, IN THE OFFICE OF THE STATE
BOARD.

(2)  THE STATE BOARD MAY HOLD SPECIAL MEETINGS AS
NECESSARY.

(C)  COMPENSATION AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES.

SUBJECT TO THE STATE BUDGET, EACH MEMBER OF THE STATE BOARD
IS ENTITLED TO:

(1)  AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $3,600; AND

(2)  REIMBURSEMENT FOR REASONABLE EXPENSES UNDER THE
STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS.
