LAWS OF MARYLAND

(F)  OATH.

BEFORE TAKING OFFICE, EACH APPOINTEE TO THE STATE BOARD
SHALL TAKE THE OATH REQUIRED BY ARTICLE I, § 9 OF THE MARYLAND
CONSTITUTION.

(G)  TENURE; VACANCIES.

(1)  THE TERM OF A MEMBER IS 3 YEARS AND BEGINS ON
JULY 1.

(2)  THE TERMS OF MEMBERS ARE STAGGERED AS REQUIRED BY
THE TERMS PROVIDED FOR MEMBERS OF THE STATE BOARD ON OCTOBER 1,
1989.

(3)  AT THE END OF A TERM, A MEMBER CONTINUES TO SERVE
UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(4)  A MEMBER WHO IS APPOINTED AFTER A TERM HAS BEGUN
SERVES ONLY FOR THE REST OF THE TERM AND UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS
APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(5)  A MEMBER MAY NOT BE REAPPOINTED FOR MORE THAN 2
CONSECUTIVE 3-YEAR TERMS.

(H) REMOVAL.

THE GOVERNOR MAY REMOVE A MEMBER FOR INCOMPETENCE OR
MISCONDUCT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section formerly appeared as Art. 56A,
§ 2-202.

In subsection (g)(2) of this section, the date
"October 1, 1989" is substituted for the former date
"October 1, 1988", to conform to similar provisions
throughout this article, all of which refer to the
effective date of the bill that enacted this article.
This substitution is not intended to alter the term of

any member of the State Board. See § 7 of Ch. ___,

Acts of 1989.

The only other changes are in style.
