AN ACT concerning
Dorchester and Somerset County Counties Somerset County
- Maintenance of Property
SC 5-88
FOR the purpose of authorizing the Dorchester County
Commissioners and the Somerset County Commissioners to enact
ordinances that require the owners of real property to keep
that property maintained in a certain way; enumeration
enumerating factors to be controlled; permitting the County
Dorchester and Somerset Counties Somerset County to perform
the work itself and to assess the cost on the owner under
certain conditions; making the unpaid cost a lien on the
property and permitting its collection in a certain way; and
generally relating to the maintenance of real property in
the County Dorchester and Somerset Counties Somerset County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 10 - Dorchester County
10-8.1.
(A) THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MAY ENACT ORDINANCES THAT
REQUIRE THE OWNERS OF REAL PROPERTY TO MEET STANDARDS ENUMERATED
IN THE ORDINANCES FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE PROPERTY.
(B) IF ENACTED, THE ORDINANCES SHALL SET THE STANDARDS FOR
THE HEIGHT OF GRASS, WEEDS, AND SIMILAR VEGETATION AND FOR THE
REMOVAL OF OLD BUILDINGS AND SIMILAR STRUCTURES.
