WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor

Ch. 3

(2) THE INDIVIDUAL SHALL SIGN THE INSPECTION REPORT
FOR THE BEAUTY SALON OR COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL TO ACKNOWLEDGE RECEIPT
OF A COPY OF THE REPORT.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a), (b)(1), and (c) of this
section are new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 56, § 479(i), the third and
fourth sentences of § 499(a), and, as they related to
inspectors, the fifth and sixth sentences of § 492.

Subsection (b)(2) of this section is new language
added to state expressly that which only was implied
in the former law -- i.e., the Board may inspect the
facilities of applicants for beauty salon permits and
school permits. In practice, before the Board issues
a permit to a new beauty salon or new cosmetology
school, the Board conducts an inspection.

Subsection (d)(1) of this section is new language
added to state expressly that which only was implied
by the requirement that the report be signed.

Subsection (d)(2) of this section is new language
substituted for the fifth sentence of former Art. 56,
§ 499(a), which provided only for managers to sign
reports. In practice, the individual who accompanies
the inspector signs the report.

In subsection (a)(1) of this section, the word
"appoint" is substituted for the former word "employ"
for clarity and conformity to the practice of the
Board.

Also in subsection (a)(1) of this section, the phrase
"to conduct inspections" is substituted for the former
phrases "to assist the Board in the discharge of its
duties", for brevity and clarity.

In subsections (b)(1) and (c)(1) and (3) of this
section, the defined term "cosmetology school[s]" is
substituted for the former references to "schools of
beauty culture" and "schools" to clarify that the
power to inspect extends to a postgraduate school.

In subsection   (c)(3) of this section, the reference to

the "owner or   lessee" of a school accompanying an

inspector on  an inspection tour is added for clarity.

This addition  conforms to the practice of the Board.

Defined terms: "Beauty salon" § 5-101

"Beauty salon permit" § 5-101 "Board" § 5-101

"Cosmetology school" § 5-101
