5-514. STANDARDS FOR OPERATION OF POSTGRADUATE SCHOOLS OF
COSMETOLOGY.

A POSTGRADUATE SCHOOL OF COSMETOLOGY:

(1)  SHALL EMPLOY A SUFFICIENT NUMBER OF TEACHERS;

(2)  SHALL HAVE SUFFICIENT EQUIPMENT TO TEACH ALL
SUBJECTS OF ITS CURRICULUM PROPERLY;

(3)  SHALL LIMIT ITS ENROLLMENT TO INDIVIDUALS
LICENSED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE;

(4)  MAY PROVIDE INSTRUCTION ONLY IN COURSES IN A
CURRICULUM THAT THE BOARD APPROVES; AND

(5)  SHALL BE NAMED SO AS TO DESIGNATE THAT IT IS A
COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Items (1), (2), (4), and (5) of this
section are new language derived without substantive
change from former Art. 56, § 485(d) and, as it
related to postgraduate schools of cosmetology, (b).
As to their revision as on-going requirements, see the
revisor's note to § 5-512 of this subtitle.

Item (3) of this section is new language added to
state as a substantive limitation that which only was
implied by former Art. 56, § 479(n), which defined
"post graduate school of beauty culture" in terms of
"licensed operators ... and/or other persons licensed
by the Board."

In item (1) of this section, the words "licensed" and
"registered as such", which formerly modified the word
"teachers", are deleted as unnecessary and, to the
extent that the former words suggested that a school
may employ other teachers, misleading. See § 5-602 of
this title.

In item (2) of this section, the former word
"apparatus" is deleted as unnecessary in light of the
word "equipment".
