Ch. 3

Subsections (c) and (d) of this section are new
language derived without substantive change from the
introductory language of former Art. 56, § 485(a) and
the first clause of (d).

Subsection (e) of this section is new language added
to state expressly that, if the Board chooses to
inspect a cosmetology school, the school must pass the
inspection.

5-512. STANDARDS FOR OPERATION OF SCHOOLS OF COSMETOLOGY --
REQUIRED CURRICULUM.

(A)  SCOPE AND FORM OF TRAINING.

(1)  A SCHOOL OF COSMETOLOGY SHALL PROVIDE A TRAINING
PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TRAINING IN
PRACTICING COSMETOLOGY.

(2)  THE TRAINING PROGRAM SHALL INCLUDE COURSES IN:

(I)  SANITATION;

(II)  STERILIZATION OF EQUIPMENT; AND

(III)  THE USE OF ANTISEPTICS, COSMETICS, AND
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES.

(B)  MINIMUM HOURS.

THE TRAINING PROGRAM SHALL CONSIST OF AT LEAST 1,500 HOURS
OF TRAINING.

(C)  TERM.

THE TERM OF THE TRAINING PROGRAM SHALL BE:

(1)  AT LEAST 9 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS FOR A DAY SCHOOL
STUDENT;

(2)  AT LEAST 18 CONSECUTIVE MONTHS FOR A NIGHT SCHOOL
STUDENT; AND

(3)  THE PERIOD OF TIME THAT A COUNTY BOARD OF
EDUCATION SETS FOR A PUBLIC VOCATIONAL SCHOOL STUDENT IN THE
COUNTY.
