Superintendent of the Maryland State Police to adopt
regulations to" include the sale or transfer of an assault
weapon within certain licensing provisions; providing for
the effective date of this Act; defining a certain term; and
generally relating to the sale, transfer, importation,
possession, or purchase of assault weapons.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments
443.
(L) THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE MARYLAND STATE POLICE SHALL
ADOPT REGULATIONS TO IMPLEMENT THE INCLUSION OF AN ASSAULT
WEAPON, AS DEFINED UNDER § 481E OF THIS ARTICLE, WITHIN THE
LICENSE, SALES, AND TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS UNDER THIS SECTION.
481E.
(A) (1) IN THIS SECTION, "ASSAULT WEAPON" MEANS:
(I) A SEMIAUTOMATIC RIFLE THAT ACCEPTS A
DETACHABLE MAGAZINE WITH A CAPACITY OF 20 ROUNDS OR MORE;
(II) A SHOTGUN WITH A MAGAZINE CAPACITY OF 6
ROUNDS OR MORE; OR
(III) A SEMIAUTOMATIC HANDGUN THAT ACCEPTS A
DETACHABLE MAGAZINE WITH A CAPACITY OF 20 ROUNDS OR MORE.
(2) "ASSAULT WEAPON" INCLUDES:
(I) ANY PART, OR COMBINATION OF PARTS, DESIGNED
OR INTENDED TO READILY CONVERT A FIREARM INTO AN ASSAULT WEAPON;
AND
(II) ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIFIC FIREARMS OR
THEIR COPIES REGARDLESS OF WHICH COMPANY PRODUCED THAT FIREARM:
1. UZI PISTOLS AND CARBINES;
2. INGRAM MAC 10 OR 11 PISTOLS AND
CARBINES;
