SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That Section(s) 297 of Article 27 - Crimes and

Punishments of the Annotated Code of Maryland be repealed.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of
Maryland read as follows:

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

4-401.

Except as provided in § 4-402 of this subtitle, and subject
to the venue provisions of Title 6 of this article, the District
Court has exclusive original civil jurisdiction in:

(8) Proceedings under §[§] 264 [or § 297] of
Article 27 OR TITLE 3, SUBTITLE 13 OF THIS ARTICLE OF THE COVE
for the forfeiture or return of moneys OR OTHER PROPERTY involved
in a gambling or controlled dangerous substances seizure THAT IS
AN APPEAL FROM AN ADMINISTRATIVE FORFEITURE OR where the amount
involved, excluding any interest and attorney's fees, if
attorney's fees are recoverable by law or contract, does not
exceed $5,000 $10,000;
