Ch. 3
LAWS OF MARYLAND
industry throughout the United States. The
substituted language also states the definition in the
infinitive form to allow minor verb variations of the
defined term without taking these variations out of
the scope of the definition.
In item (1) of this subsection, the references to
"arms", "hands", and "scalp" are added to reflect the
similar references in the third clause of the first
sentence of former Art. 56, § 479(a).
(N) PROVIDE MANICURING SERVICES.
"PROVIDE MANICURING SERVICES" MEANS TO MANICURE OR PEDICURE
FOR COMPENSATION THE NAILS OF AN INDIVIDUAL.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, §
479(d).
The term "provide manicuring services" is substituted,
as the defined term, for the former word "manicurist",
to standardize use of defined terms throughout this
title. Thus, the substituted language states the
definition in the infinitive form to allow minor verb
variations of the defined term without taking these
variations out of the scope of the definition.
(0) PROVIDE WIG STYLING SERVICES.
"PROVIDE WIG STYLING SERVICES" MEANS TO COMB, CUT, FIT, SET,
STYLE, OR TREAT FOR COMPENSATION A WIG, WIGLET, FALL, OR SIMILAR
HAIRPIECE OF AN INDIVIDUAL.
REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, §
479(r).
The phrase "for compensation" is added to reflect that
only an individual who provides wig styling services
for compensation is regulated under this title. This
addition is based on the first clause of the first
sentence of former Art. 56, § 479(a), which limited
practice of cosmetology to work "for compensation".
The term "provide wig styling services" is
substituted, as the defined term, for the former term
"wig stylist", to standardize use of defined terms
throughout this title. Thus, the substituted language
states the definition in the infinitive form to allow
minor verb variations of the defined term without
taking these variations out of the scope of the
definition.
