SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 64A - Merit System

The following positions and places shall not be included in
the classified service:

(10)  The chief supervisor of assessments and all
assistant State supervisors of assessments appointed after June
1, 1957, by the State Department of Assessments and Taxation!.];

(11)  Health officers; [and]

(12)  The executive director, stewards, and harness
judges employed by the Maryland Racing Commission; AND

(13)  THE DIRECTOR OF THE BALTIMORE CITY DEPARTMENT OF
SOCIAL SERVICES . ; AND

(14) ALL DEPUTY DIRECTORS AND ASSISTANT DIRECTORS OF
THE LOCAL DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES FOR BALTIMORE CITY
APPOINTED AFTER MAY I, 1989.--------------------------------------
