WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor

Ch. 3

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language derived without substantive change from
former Art. 56, § 437(a), as that subsection related
to operation of a school.

Subsection (b) of this section is new language added
to state expressly that which only was implied in the
former law -- i.e., a separate school permit must be
obtained for each school.

In subsection (a) of this section, the defined term
"school permit" is substituted for the former term
"barber school license", to conform to changes in
terminology made throughout this article. See the
General Revisor's Note to this article.

Also in subsection (a) of this section, the term
"barber school" is substituted for the former
reference to "a school, training or instruction agency
for barbers", for brevity and consistency.

Defined terms: "Barber" § 4-101
"Board" § 4-101 "Person" § 1-101
"School permit" § 4-101

4-512. QUALIFICATIONS OF SCHOOL PERMIT APPLICANTS.

(A)   IN GENERAL.

THE BOARD THAT THE BARBER SCHOOL FOR WHICH THE APPLICATION IS
MADE WILL BE OPERATED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STANDARDS IN § 4-513
OF THIS SUBTITLE.

(B)   INSPECTIONS.

AS A CONDITION OF THE ISSUANCE OF A SCHOOL PERMIT, THE
BARBER SCHOOL FOR WHICH THE APPLICATION IS MADE SHALL PASS AN
INSPECTION CONDUCTED UNDER § 4-522 OF THIS SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language added to state expressly that the onus of
satisfying the Board falls on the applicant.

Subsection (b) of this section is new language added
to state expressly that not only must a pre-opening
inspection be conducted but the school must pass the
inspection before it can open for business.

Defined terms: "Barber" § 4-101

"Board" § 4-101 "School permit" § 4-101
