AN ACT concerning
St. Mary's County - Human Relations Commission
FOR the purpose of requiring complaints to the St. Mary's County
Human Relations Commission to be confidential under certain
circumstances; providing certain exceptions to the
confidentiality requirement; and generally relating to the
confidentiality of certain human relations complaints in St.
Mary's County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 19 - St. Mary's County
26-16.
A. Authorized; purpose. The County Commissioners of St.
Mary's County are authorized to establish a Commission on Human
Relations for the county, whose purpose it shall be to promote
understanding and harmony of relationship between the people of
the county through the study of the nature and all causes of
social friction and prejudice and the advancement of means for
the alleviation of these problems and to otherwise further the
American ideal of equality and justice. The Commission shall use
its influence and persuasion to direct the community's efforts to
the solution of all those problems which many times are the basic
reasons for racial tensions. The Commission shall have no legal
power.
B. The Commission shall consist of eleven (11) members
appointed by the County Commissioners. Special consideration
shall be given to the appointment of minority group
representatives. Where possible, one (1) member shall be chosen
from each of the following: Catholic clergy, ministerial
associations, the Board of Education and County Bar Association.
The Commission members shall serve for a term of four (4) years,
