WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                      Ch. 61

(1)   Investigate and assemble information pertinent to
the economic resources and industrial opportunities of the
county.

(2)  Cooperate with, offer assistance to and encourage
the expansion of existing businesses and industries and actively
work for the location of new businesses and industries compatible
with the resources and environment of St. Mary's County.

(3)  Encourage development of recreational areas and
encourage tourist business in the county, making the public aware
of the county's historical background and progress.

(4)  Disseminate information in the interest of
industrial development by publication, advertising and other
means.

(5)  cooperate with any federal, state or local agency
board or commission, including the Economic Development
Commission of Maryland, in the furtherance of its purposes.

(6)  Cooperate with any interested private concern,
civil organization or subdivision thereof in furtherance of its
purposes.

H. Retirement benefits.

(1)  The Director of the Economic Development
Commission shall receive for the remainder of the Director's life
a retirement benefit of four hundred dollars ($400) per month
from St. Mary's County, payable by the County Commissioners from
the general funds of the county.

(2)  The Secretary to the Director of the Economic
Development Commission shall receive for the remainder of the
Secretary's life a retirement benefit of two hundred dollars $200
per month from St. Mary's County, payable by the County
Commissioners from the general funds of the county.]

26-17.

FROM THE GENERAL FUNDS OF THE COUNTY, THE COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS SHALL PAY TO THE SECRETARY OF THE ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION THAT WAS ABOLISHED, BY STATUTE, ON JULY 1,
1989, A RETIREMENT BENEFIT OF $200 PER MONTH FOR THE REMAINDER OF
THE SECRETARY'S LIFE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1989.
