MUNICIPAL CHARTERS
Short Title: Charter Amendment on Municipal Powers
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have, after
deliberation, concluded that Subsections 1.7(a), (b), (c), and

express powers which is antiquated and no longer accurately
describes the present authority and responsibilities of the
municipality; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the City to amend
the above subsections of the City Charter to more accurately
enumerate those powers expressly granted to the municipality
under the laws of the State of Maryland; and to make it clear
that the City Council will continue to exercise the full range of
powers and functions not denied to it by the Constitution or Laws
of the State of Maryland or by other provisions of its Charter;
[Section(s) 1.7(a), (b), and (c) of the Charter of the City
of Takoma Park, Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, as found
in the compilation of Municipal Charters of Maryland (1983

Section(s) 1.7(k) of the Charter of the City of Takoma Park,
