RESOLUTION NO. 1987-58

Short Title: Charter Amendment to Adjust Penalties
for Violating Laws

A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF TAKOMA PARK TO:

1.  Authorize the City Council to establish penalties for
violating the charter, code, or regulations of the City in
amounts up to the maximum permissible under state law.

2.  Repeal provisions that limit the amount of penalties to less
than the maximum allowed under state law.

3.  Provide that all violations shall be enforced as either a
municipal infraction or a misdemeanor.

4.' Provide that the City may also enforce its laws by other
legal methods.
