TO EXPAND AUTHORITIES TO ENFORCE TOWN ORDINANCES

BY AUTHORIZING TOWN COUNCIL TO PROVIDE FOR MUNICIPAL INFRACTIONS

Charters of Maryland (1983 Edition), repealed and reenacted, with
amendments.

RESOLUTION TO AMEND TOWN CHARTER TO CHANGE DATE

FOR ELECTION OF COUNCILMEMBERS AND/OR MAYOR TO

PROVIDE SEVERAL DATES FOR ELECTION FROM WHICH COUNCIL

SHALL SELECT DATE EACH YEAR

THIS RESOLUTION of the Town Council of the Town of
Somerset for a Charter Amendment is adopted pursuant to the
authority of Article XI-E of the Maryland Constitution, Section
13 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland and Section
83-91 of the Town Charter. This Charter Amendment amends Section
83-29 of the Charter of the Town of Somerset, governing the date
for the election of Mayor and/or Town Councilmembers.
Specifically, this Charter Amendment changes the date of election
from the first Monday in April to a date between March 20th and
April 7th, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the
specific date to be set each year by resolution of the Town
Council.
