WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor

OF MARYLAND, BY VIRTUE OF THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME BY THE
CONSTITUTION AND LAWS OF MARYLAND, HEREBY RESCIND EXECUTIVE
ORDER 01.01.1985.35 AND PROCLAIM THE FOLLOWING EXECUTIVE
ORDER:

A. The State Advisory Council on Nutrition.

(1) The State Advisory Council on Nutrition is hereby
created. The Council shall consist of fourteen members
appointed by the Governor and include the following:

(a)  Representation from each of the following
State Agencies:

(i) The Deputy Secretary of the Department of
Human Resources;

(ii) The Deputy Secretary for Public Health
of the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene;

(iii) The Assistant State Superintendent of
the Department of Education; and

(iv) The Director of the Office on Aging.

(b)  One member of the Senate designated by the
President;

(c)  One member of the House of Delegates
designated by the Speaker;

(d)  Two representatives of local governments;

.(e) One representative of the University of
Maryland Cooperative Extension Service;

(f)  Five individuals who have an interest in or
expertise in matters pertaining to food and nutrition;

(g)  The Governor shall select the chairperson of
the Council;

(h) The Governor may remove any member of the
Council for any cause adversely affecting the member's
ability or willingness to perform his or her duties;

(i) The term of a member is two years. In case of
a vacancy, the Governor shall appoint a successor for the
remainder of the unexpired term. The member's terms shall be
staggered as established during the initial appointments;

(j) A majority of the Council shall constitute a
quorum for the transaction of any business. The Council may
adopt any other procedures necessary to ensure the orderly
