(2)  Metals acquired by a licensed dentist in
connection with the practice of dentistry; or

(3)  Coins or similar numismatic items.

(B) WITH RESPECT TO RETAIL JEWELERS ONLY, THIS SUBTITLE
DOES NOT APPLY TO TRANSACTIONS INVOLVING:

(1)  THE ACCEPTANCE BY A RETAIL JEWELER OF THE RETURN
OF AN ITEM ORIGINALLY SOLD BY THE RETAIL JEWELER IN ACCORDANCE
WITH A POSTED RETURN POLICY;

(2)  THE ACCEPTANCE BY A RETAIL JEWELER OF MERCHANDISE
IN TRADE, IF THAT PARTICULAR MERCHANDISE WAS ORIGINALLY:

(I)  SOLD BY THE RETAIL JEWELER; AND

(II)  ACCEPTED IN TRADE IN ACCORDANCE WITH A
PUBLISHED TRADE-IN POLICY;

(3)  THE REPOSSESSION BY A RETAIL JEWELER OF
MERCHANDISE ORIGINALLY SOLD BY THE RETAIL JEWELER AS A RESULT OF
THE DEFAULT OF THE ORIGINAL PURCHASER; OR

(4)  IN THE CASE OF MERCHANDISE ORIGINALLY ACCEPTED
FOR REPAIR BY THE RETAIL JEWELER AS A BAILEE FOR HIRE, THE
RETENTION BY THE RETAIL JEWELER OF THE ACCEPTED MERCHANDISE AFTER
THE CUSTOMER DEPOSITING THE MERCHANDISE FOR REPAIR HAS:

(I)  DEFAULTED; OR

(II)  FAILED TO RECLAIM THE MERCHANDISE WITHIN A
PERIOD OF TIME AGREED UPON BY THE CUSTOMER AND THE RETAIL
JEWELER.

417A.

(A)  A RETAIL JEWELER WHO ENGAGES IN ANY TRANSACTION
INVOLVING SECONDHAND PRECIOUS METALS THAT IS NOT LISTED UNDER §
417(B) OF THIS SUBTITLE SHALL COMPLY WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS
SUBTITLE WITH RESPECT TO THAT TRANSACTION.

(B)  WITH RESPECT TO ANY TRANSACTION LISTED UNDER § 417(B),
A RETAIL JEWELER SHALL PERMIT ANY LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER WHO IS
AUTHORIZED TO ACT IN THE JURISDICTION TO ENTER THE JEWELER'S
BUSINESS OR STORAGE PREMISES DURING BUSINESS HOURS TO INSPECT
RECORDS AND PRECIOUS METALS PURSUANT TO A STOLEN PROPERTY
INVESTIGATION.

418.

(d) The applicant shall pay a nonrefundable application fee
of $100 plus an additional $20 for each employee of the
