GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND ON CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO A FINE
NOT EXCEEDING $10,000.

NO OTHERWISE QUALIFIED ALCOHOL ABUSER OR DRUG ABUSER, SOLELY
BY REASON OF THE INDIVIDUAL'S STATUS AS AN ALCOHOL ABUSER OR DRUG
ABUSER, SHALL BE DENIED THE BENEFITS OF, OR BE SUBJECTED TO
DISCRIMINATION BY ANY PUBLIC OR PRIVATE HOSPITAL PROGRAM OR
ACTIVITY.
SUBTITLE 9 10. SHORT TITLE
8-901. 8-1001.
THIS TITLE MAY BE CITED AS THE MARYLAND ADDICTIONS SERVICES
ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE ACT.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the catchlines
contained in this Act are not law and may not be considered to
have been enacted as a part of this Act.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the term of
office of an appointed or elected member of the State Advisory
Council on Alcoholism Control and the State Advisory Council on
Drug Abuse ends on the effective date of this Act.
SECTION 5. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That except as
expressly provided to the contrary in this Act, any transaction
affected by or flowing from any change of nomenclature or any
statute repealed and validly entered into before the effective
date and every right, duty, or interest flowing from the statute
remains valid after the effective date and may be terminated,
completed, consummated, or enforced as required or permitted by
any statute repealed or added by this Act as though the repeal or
addition had not occurred. If the change in nomenclature
involves a change in name or designation of any State agency, the
successor agency shall be considered in all respects as having
the powers and obligations granted the former agency.
SECTION 6. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That except as
expressly provided to the contrary in this Act, any person or
organization certified by the Administrations repealed by this
Act is considered for all purposes to be certified by the
Administration established under this Act for the duration of the
term for which the certification was issued, and may renew that
authorization in accordance with the appropriate renewal
provision of this Act. Except as expressly provided to the
