(2) A PRESCRIPTION DRUG WHEN USED IN AN ABUSIVE OR
HARMFUL MANNER MEDICATION; OR
(3) A CHEMICAL SUBSTANCE WHEN USED FOR UNINTENDED AND
HARMFUL PURPOSES.
(H)(1) "DRUG ABUSE" MEANS:
(I) MISUSE OR UNLAWFUL USE OF A DRUG; OR
(II) DRUG DEPENDENCE; OR
(III) DRUG ADDICTION.
(2) "DRUG ABUSE" DOES NOT INCLUDE TAKING A DRUG
ACCORDING TO A LAWFUL PRESCRIPTION THAT IS ISSUED, IN THE COURSE
OF PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT, FOR A LEGITIMATE MEDICAL PURPOSE.
(I) "DRUG ABUSER" MEANS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO:
(1) HAS A DRUG DEPENDENCE OR DRUG ADDICTION;
(2) BECAUSE OF REPEATED USE OF A DRUG, IS IN IMMINENT
DANGER OF HAVING A DRUG DEPENDENCE OR ADDICTION; OR
(2) SHOWS CLINICALLY DEFINABLE SYMPTOMS OF DRUG
ABUSE.
(J) "DRUG ADDICTION" MEANS A PHYSICAL OR PSYCHOLOGICAL
DEPENDENCE ON A DRUG THAT IS CHARACTERIZED BY:
(1) OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE BEHAVIOR RELATED TO DRUG
ABUSE;
(2) THE INABILITY TO STOP THE INGESTION OF THE DRUG;
AND
(3) CONTINUED USE OF DRUGS IN THE FACE OF DANGER OR
ADVERSE CIRCUMSTANCES.
(H) "DRUG MISUSE" MEANS:
(1) UNLAWFUL USE OF A DRUG;
(2) DRUG ABUSE; OR
(3) DRUG DEPENDENCE.
(I) "DRUG ABUSE" MEANS A DISEASE WHICH IS CHARACTERIZED BY
A PATTERN OF PATHOLOGICAL USE OF A DRUG WITH REPEATED ATTEMPTS TO
CONTROL THE USE, AND WITH SIGNIFICANT NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES IN AT
LEAST ONE OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS OF LIFE: MEDICAL, LEGAL,
FINANCIAL, OR PSYCHO-SOCIAL.
