SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

(f) (2) [Any] (I) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN SUBPARAGRAPH (II)
OF THIS PARAGRAPH, ANY Sheriff of Calvert County who, since 1948,
has served for three or more terms shall receive a pension when
he leaves office in the annual amount of $150 for each year
served. This pension shall be paid not less frequently than once
a month.

(II) THIS PARAGRAPH DOES NOT APPLY TO A TERM OF
OFFICE THAT BEGINS ON OR AFTER JULY 1, 1988.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.

AN ACT concerning

Commercial Law - First Mortgages and First
Deeds of Trust - Binders

FOR the purpose of providing that in cases where a lender or
credit grantor requires certain insurance to be obtained by
certain borrowers prior to making a loan secured by a first
mortgage or a first deed of trust on owner-occupied
residential real estate, the lender or credit grantor shall
accept a binder issued by an insurer or its agent as
evidence of insurance; requiring the binder to include or be
accompanied by certain provisions; providing for certain
exemptions from the requirement that a binder be accepted as
evidence of insurance; requiring that an insurer either
issue a policy of insurance within a certain time period
after the binder is given or provide the required notice of
