WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor Ch. 648

2-502. RECIPROCAL ACTION.

(A)  STATE BOARD.

SUBJECT TO THE LIMITATIONS IN THIS TITLE, THE STATE BOARD
MAY RECIPROCATE WITH A LOCAL JURISDICTION TO WAIVE ANY OF THE
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR ANY LICENSE ISSUED UNDER THIS TITLE
FOR AN APPLICANT FOR A RECIPROCAL LICENSE.

(B)  LOCAL JURISDICTION.

SUBJECT TO THE LIMITATIONS IN THIS SUBTITLE, EACH LOCAL
JURISDICTION MAY RECIPROCATE WITH THE STATE BOARD OR ANOTHER
LOCAL JURISDICTION TO WAIVE ANY LOCAL EXAMINATION REQUIREMENT AND
THE QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR TAKING A LOCAL EXAMINATION FOR AN
APPLICANT FOR A RECIPROCAL LICENSE.

COMMITTEE COMMENT: This section is new language substituted
for former Art. 56, § 320, which stated that "a system
of reciprocity" is established. The substituted
language states expressly the power of the State Board
and a local jurisdiction to take reciprocal action in
regard to any type of reciprocal license issued to
provide electrical services. Currently, the State
Board issues only 1 type of license — i.e., a master
electrician license. However, the former law was
broad enough to apply to any type of license that the
State Board might issue.

The references to a "local jurisdiction" are
substituted for the former reference to "all
electrical boards, whether they be ... municipal or
locally appointed boards", to reflect licensure by a
local entity other than a local board.

Defined terms: "Reciprocal license" § 2-501
"State Board" § 2-101

2-503. RECIPROCAL ACTION BETWEEN STATE BOARD AND
JURISDICTIONS.

LOCAL

(A) QUALIFICATIONS.

SUBJECT TO THE LIMITATIONS IN THIS SUBTITLE, AN INDIVIDUAL
MAY QUALIFY FOR A RECIPROCAL LICENSE FROM THE STATE BOARD IF THE
INDIVIDUAL:

(1)  HOLDS A LICENSE FROM A LOCAL JURISDICTION OF THE
STATE TO PROVIDE ELECTRICAL SERVICES IN THE LOCAL JURISDICTION;

(2)  APPLIES FOR A RECIPROCAL LICENSE OF THE SAME
CLASS OR TYPE THAT THE STATE BOARD ISSUES; AND
