COMMITTEE COMMENT: Subsections (a) and (b)(2) of this
section are new language derived from the second
sentence of former Art. 56, § 533(a).

Subsection (b)(1) of this section is standard language
added to clarify the manner of election for officers
of the State Board.

In subsection (a) of this section, the former
reference to the first meeting of the Board is deleted
as obsolete.

In subsection (b)(2) of this section, the phrase "on
July 1" is substituted for the former reference to the
"June 30" expiration date for terms of officers.

2-204. QUORUM; MEETINGS; COMPENSATION; STAFF.

(A)  QUORUM.

A MAJORITY OF THE AUTHORIZED MEMBERSHIP OF THE STATE BOARD
IS A QUORUM.

(B)  MEETINGS.

(1)  THE STATE BOARD SHALL MEET AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH,
AT THE TIMES THAT IT DETERMINES, IN THE OFFICE OF THE STATE
BOARD.

(2)  THE STATE BOARD MAY HOLD SPECIAL MEETINGS AS
NECESSARY.

(C)  COMPENSATION AND REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES.

SUBJECT TO THE STATE BUDGET, EACH MEMBER OF THE STATE BOARD
IS ENTITLED TO:

(1)  AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $3,600; AND

(2)  REIMBURSEMENT FOR • REASONABLE EXPENSES UNDER THE
STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS.

(D)  STAFF.

THE STATE BOARD MAY EMPLOY A STAFF IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
STATE BUDGET.

COMMITTEE COMMENT: Subsections (a), (b)(1), (c), and (d) of
this section are new language derived from former Art.
