Ch. 648

LAWS OF MARYLAND

2-104. SAME — LOCAL EXEMPTIONS.

EXCEPT FOR ALLEGANY COUNTY, THIS TITLE DOES NOT IMPOSE AN
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR HOLDING A STATE LICENSE IN AN INSTANCE
IN WHICH A LOCAL LICENSE IS NOT REQUIRED.

COMMITTEE COMMENT: This section is new language substituted
for former Art. 56, § 541(4) and (5), which provided
specific exemptions for persons who supply or furnish
electrical material or equipment.

As to the requirement that, on or before July 1, 1989,
a county either adopt licensing regulations or require
a State license for providing electrical services as a
master electrician, see § 2-301 of this title.

Defined terms: "Local license" § 2-101
"State license" § 2-101

SUBTITLE 2. STATE BOARD OF MASTER ELECTRICIANS.

2-201. ESTABLISHED.

THERE IS A STATE BOARD OF MASTER ELECTRICIANS IN THE
DEPARTMENT.

COMMITTEE COMMENT: This section is new language derived
from the first sentence of former Art. 56, § 542(1).

It is set forth as a separate section for emphasis.

The reference to the "State Board of Master
Electricians" is substituted for the former reference
to the "Board created by this subtitle", for clarity.

Defined term: "Department" § 1-101

2-202. MEMBERSHIP.

(A) COMPOSITION; APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS.

(1)  THE STATE BOARD CONSISTS OF 9 MEMBERS APPOINTED
BY THE GOVERNOR WITH THE ADVICE AND CONSENT OF THE SENATE.

(2)  OF THE 9 STATE BOARD MEMBERS:
(I) 6 SHALL BE LICENSED MASTER ELECTRICIANS;

AND

(II) 3 SHALL BE CONSUMER MEMBERS.
